1. Add your first gear item
Open the app and create a new inventory item. Enter the key details you want to preserve, such as category, make, model, serial number, value, and notes. Start with enough information to identify the item clearly. You can always refine the details later.
2. Add photos
Attach one or more photos to help document the item’s appearance and condition. Good photos can be useful for insurance, resale preparation, or simply proving to your future self that yes, you really did own all that gear.
3. Review item details
Open an item’s detail page to review its information, confirm values, and make sure photos and notes are attached correctly. This is a good habit after adding anything important.
4. Edit or delete items when needed
If something changes, use the item edit tools to update the record. If an entry was added by mistake or no longer belongs in your inventory, use the delete option carefully.
5. Use search and filters
When your inventory grows, use the built-in search and filtering tools to locate items more quickly. This becomes especially helpful when you have several related pieces of gear and do not want to scroll through everything manually.
6. Check the Inventory Summary page
Visit the dedicated Inventory Summary page when you want a broader overview of your collection. It is useful for getting a quick sense of what is stored in the app without opening every individual record.
7. Create exports
Use CSV export when you want spreadsheet-friendly data. Use PDF export when you want a more presentation-ready record that can be printed or shared. The PDF share and print options make this especially handy for documentation outside the app.
8. Back up your inventory
Backups matter. Use the backup tools regularly so your data and item photos are preserved. A good app record is only half the job if it lives on one device with no safety net.
9. Import a backup when needed
If you move devices or need to restore your records, use the import feature to bring your saved data and photos back into the app. This is the recovery path you will be very glad exists if hardware ever decides to have a dramatic episode.
10. Visit the About page
The About screen includes a direct link to the official Musical Gear Vault website, where you can check for documentation, updates, FAQ entries, and future download information.
